Today's big news is the sad passing of Leslie Nielson. the man always made me laugh with his deadpan delivery of completely crazy comments, takes a lot to be able to do that, and its a loss to us all that he's gone..
So in Job related news today i need to advise my debt management company of my redundancy, speak to citizens advice about some matters and book an MOT for my car.. wow first day of unemployment and already such a jet-set life..
Recently however, since the dawning realisation that I was gonna get canned began to sink in my creative urges have been increasing, why its almost as if the overwhelming pressure was affecting that aspect of my life..
I have several "proto-songs" in my head, little guitar tunes and half-lyrics, thankfully a little memory trick will help me recall them when I get the chance to expand upon them, and my dreams are reaching epic proportions in terms of creating writing materials..
recent dreams have included an incredibly dark psuedo gothic Victorian love story and some crazy epic superhero thing last night.. I'm gonna break down the basic synposis of the first one here because it was more coherent and suits an actual story more.
(bear in mind, this is all set as if it was happening in the Victorian period of time.. so buildings, dress styles and social behaviour follows that as well)
It follows a man suddenly thrust into a world of darkness, where the sun never seems to rise. Lost and missing large parts of his memory he finds himself on the grounds of a large building, possibly a mansion or hospital, which is mostly in ruins.
As he looks around it he is attacked by several things, zombies, ghosts or spirits and other "nasties", and he keeps having flashbacks to a time when this building wasnt a ruin. in these flashbacks he sees a group of people attempting to fight against a rising darkness, being led by a woman described as a "descendant of the dragon-knights" who has a powerful magical ability, in fact most of the people in the group have some kind of mystical ability. the flashbacks present themselves to him as though he was an outside observer, but there is a man in the group who looks just like him.
as he wanders and runs from the things out after him, the flashbacks narrate the story of the past, revealing that someone was after using the power of the dragon-knights to create a world of night, in which this persons own power would be absolute. it also reveals the person who looks like him appearing to have romantic intentions towards the woman who is the last of these dragon-knights. in the present he resolves to find and save this woman.
in the present another woman appears, appearing pure white and as the only "light" in the darkness, she reveals she in fact controls all the things on the grounds of the building and has actively drawn him there to be destroyed, slowly. he is attacked again and beaten till he passes out.
in the flashback that follows he finds the group in shambles, months of relentless assaults on them have taken a toll and many of the group have fallen to their unknown enemy, and risen again against them. things have progressed between the person who looks like him and the dragon-knight and romance is beginning to bloom between them, the group is down to about 4 people now.
coming to in the present he finds himself inside the "main" building, in an elaborately decorated room that has been exposed to the elements due to the windows being destroyed, as well as a small fire near one wall. there's no way out as the door is boarded up, but as he moves around the room small, quick flashbacks begin to come back to him. the room belonged to the dragon-knight, and her final fate reveals itself to him here.
The flashbacks show her eventual seduction by the person who looks like him, as the forces opposing them close in, as the pair embrace a battle rages outside, with the other two remaining of the original group attempting to prevent an army of undead from storming the building. one falls and the last, the woman sworn to protect the dragon-knight (like her personal maid/nanny/bodyguard) taking a mortal wound. she flee's from the fight, to find the dragon-knight and the man.
She finds them in the room, with the dragon-knight sleeping and the man dressing and as she begins to explain the desperate situation the man stands, summons a blade and sinks it into her chest.. He then reveals he is the head of the force they've been fighting all along, and when the dragon-knight awakes, she will have finished falling to his side.
as the dragon-knight begins to awake, the woman curses the man with her last breath, consuming him with fire and removing his memories and implanting a new personality inside him. she dies and the dragon-knight rises, as the light from the sky is drawn into her, plunging the world into darkness and causing a large explosion inside the room, throwing the man out of the windows and many miles away..
in the present the "white lady" re-appears and re-confirms that he was the rightful ruler of this world, with her at his side. As his original memory begins to returns they embrace...
with a lot of fleshing out, i think this'd be quite an interesting story, the end, with the reveal of who the "white lady" and the protagonist really are should be a lot more hidden, so as to come with a real twist and surprise.. I really want to include things that'll make the reader think there's a chance that he'll save the world, and the woman before the reveal that the way he feels is nothing more than a "curse" and the darkness is all his doing and his desire anyway..
what do you think folks?
